CSA? Or PSP?

You are correct that the CSA scores are for Carriers and the PSP report is for drivers, although the PSP report is not point based. A PSP record contains a driver’s most recent 5 years of crash data and the most recent 3 years of roadside inspection data from the FMCSA MCMIS database. You need the driver's CDL number in order to query the PSP database.

######, you seem to be one of the few that know the difference, as well as the fact that drivers do not get points and a score with either. A few side notes to your excellent post. 1) Although PSP utilizes CSA data, it is not part of CSA. 2) PSP is available to a driver and prospective employers. A company which already employes a driver cannot use (At least they are not supposed to) PSP nor can insurance companies, potential customers etc. 3) PSP is voluntary for prospective employers.

 

Companies look at psp because we cant see the points. They can. And our points makes up part of their score. They don't wanna hire drivers that already have 100 points. They also don't oos.

 

Drivers do not have points, nor do any violations the driver had that caused the carriers CSA to suffer transfer to a new company.

 

Some carriers do play that game, but the Feds do not rate/rank drivers with points, scores or anything else unless there is a carrier intervention. When that happens then DMS kicks in and drivers are also looked at. Just adding points for drivers or carriers is meaningless and neither PSP or CSA does this as many believe. Basically CSA uses an algorithm to compare similar sized companies with a similar number of inspections to rate companies, not drivers.
