@Drpparker95 - Not to bash anybody, but I noticed you mentioned YRC and Holland earlier as well. My advice would be to stay away from the YRC companies (they also own Holland) unless you use them as a stepping stone into the LTL world. Both companies are doing very poorly and most of their drivers are pretty disgruntled about the situation due to pay cuts they don't anticipate ever getting back. Their biggest selling point is "free" health insurance, but when you take into account the pay disparity compared to most other LTLs you can see the drivers are more than paying for it. Those companies are no longer the cream of the crop, but they might help you get out of driving sleeper trucks when the time comes.
Freight Train One, 2BucTruck and Need4Speed Thank this. -
They're really the last ditch options

Same here for both me and a fellow driver. Years of experience and spotless records, but both turned down. Dayton has had a "Drivers Wanted" sign out for almost a year but it's not for real.
-
Don't take it personally. They don’t over-hire because they don't want to lay off people, and that sign may have been put out when they only needed 1 city driver and never taken down. Also, it is so much easier to hire drivers off the street for linehaul, but that's never where the real need is. So for drivers who want to eventually do linehaul, they may have to do P&D for a while first (which is what I did). They don't often hire off the street for linehaul. -
Lowell, In. The sign was up all summer with a phone number on it. It was changed last month with the phone number taken off and their web site put on it. They may be hiring, but not experienced drivers like myself (40 years) or a friend (30 years). We both have LTL linehaul, p+d, and dock experience.

Need4Speed Thanks this.

Sounds like they got sick of fielding phone calls in the office.
