Not my walmart. You will only see walmart trailers sleeping at night on that lot.
There is a small truckstop in the area, and a Loves in Searcy as well as a few others plus a Petro in North Little Rock (Galloway on 40)
There are a thousand places to put a big truck that is not necessarily a truckstop. But being left alone and not hasseled is the big trick. People always run out and want to give you a hard time when you park a semi in some places not normally marked as such.
Only parking at truck stops and Walmarts?

That's because you can tell by the trash left behind that a truck was parked there.

The thing is tho that there's safety in numbers. If you're parked somewhere by yourself in the wee hours of the night, you could end up victim of a break-in, hold-up, truck jacking...or even worse. There's drivers who have lost their lives being parked in some desolate location far away from help. Not that stuff doesn't happen in a truckstop, but nobody's gonna try a break-in when there's 50-100 other trucks around.

Most states allow parking at scalehouses. Some even have public bathrooms. Rarely much competition for spaces equals plenty of peace and quiet, but the official law enforcement nature of the place still adds a touch of security. Not a good idea if you're illegal though. Imagine waking up and getting ready to roll, only to discover that the scalehouse is now open for business.
My GPS has three "quick search ahead on route" slots. I have them programmed for truck stops, rest areas, and scalehouses.
Another option I've used in a pinch is parking lots of commercial buildings that are unoccupied and for sale, or even straight-up abandoned. Seems scary until you realize that many of them can be found right next door to going concerns. A restaurant building for sale right next door to a truck stop, for example. But the best option was already mentioned and seconded: your shippers and receivers. Then you can stay on line 2 until around the time that they hand you your paperwork.Last edited: Oct 27, 2017
