Anyone had a minor accident during your training period?

Minor damage to truck or trailer but no one hurt.

What happened? Fired from job, extra training, chewed out?

I'm with cr England and I know if it's something really minor and it's your first they will send you to a safety class, you gotta stay there the whole day not get paid and from what I hear it's boring. But any major accidents during your probationary period usually results in termination.

There was this one student that hit anther trailer, and he had to be on the receiving end of buttsex from his trainer. He said that after 3weeks you get used to it.

No lie. Wish I were lying.

they take away your manhood, yep, they lop it off right before your teary eyes.

then they make you wash the toilets in the office, during taco tuesdays.

then they make you wash the windows on a chicago high rise. with only a rope to hold you.

i hear if you fall off that rope..??

    they fire you

seriously, it depends on the company. some put you into a class again, some fire you on the spot.

so basically, if you don't wanna wash high rise windows, using only a rope

    don't have any accidents.

What happened to getting out and looking to make sure you are in the clear? I'm self taught for the most part, didn't have a fancy truck starting out, actually didn't even have power steering. I wouldn't care if a trainer liked it or not, if I was uncertain my butt would be out looking. If your in control of the truck, then your in control of whole situation.

I agree, this doesn't look good. An accident in training, no matter how minor, could show potential employers, you may not have what it takes. I don't want to admonish you any, and even if it wasn't you're fault, it goes on a record somewhere, and an employer may see that, and not the details and will pass you by for someone with no infractions. Years ago, in my 1st T/T job, about a month in, I was involved in a MAJOR crash, T-boned a 4 wheeler on an interstate, that got hit from behind by another 18, spun her sideways in front of me, and I creamed her in the drivers door,( 10% my fault for being there, but no other charges) and the impact jackknifed the unit ( loaded with sand) and broke the 5th wheel off the truck ( a Mack R model) truck came back down, and the trailer went over in the median. I was able to drive the tractor back, felt terrible, the boss was a great guy, I told him what happened and HE made the judgement to keep me on, and said, " I've got another truck for you to use, are you ok"? I said, "sure", and for the next 35 years and over 3 million miles, I never had another incident. The boss said, "well, this makes you an experienced truck driver, now you know what can happen". My point is, the boss made the decision back then, that just doesn't happen today. Good luck.

When drivers do good companies could care less but if a driver has an accident no matter how minor it is,the entire company knows and that driver is marked as bad.
