I did look up your "facts" and according to Swift, unless you are a mentor you can expect less than $49,000 a year with 3 years in, which 5 years is the top pay year and tops at $.41(unless you are a team, then $.42) per mile BTW and according to their stats, their driving course costs $3900 and they take 26 months to pay that back to themselves which is $150 a month and if you quit in less time, then you are responsible for what they didnt pay back. So at Swift's own figures for a 1 year driver-the pay is $.33(West), $.35(East), $.36(Team), you have to be there 2 full years to get $.34 as a West driver. BTW, $.34 comes out to $44,200 a year at approx 2500 miles per week(which you wont average at Swift) That means on year 3 you will average approx that. You think that is good money??

So, in this case, by the time the student is off the training truck, my hubby has paid for their tuition, and Swift has invested how much per student? Oh, and I forgot to mention that when hubby was training, if he went over 11,000 miles a month, they would take out $0.09 per excess mile. They call this excess miles. But they say that this money will go toward the purchase price of the truck at the end of the lease, so we didn't sweat it. So when they terminated him they got the almost $10,000.00 we had in the excess miles account .....nice way to make some money. So PP has alot to learn about how a company can make the kind of money Swift makes. Swift gets the truck we paid for, plus the security deposit, and we get the shaft to the tune of $100,000.00.

You are lucky you got the money, or any money for that matter and they didnt "loose" it!
Lease purchase plans--that is how they work. You rent the truck from THEM, so you can deliver THEIR freight and THEY hold everything untill you pay THEM off, and then THEY tell you that your truck is now too old to be in their fleet, so your rental with THEM starts all over again. And BTW, THEY charge you THEIR price for the truck, not what it is actually listing for--THEY dont want you to see that because you figure out quick that THEY just SCREWED YOU.
ALways buy your own truck and take it somewhere and lease it on if you want to be an O/O, never RENT from THEM.

I get the impression that PawPaw isn't really interested in
    "learning" ANYthing.
Instead, he'll consider your information to be an "attack" on his
    beloved Swift.

There are none so blind as those who would walk a mile in
another's shoes, and still not smell the coffee brewin' on the
    greener side of the fence.

    Or, sumthin' like that.
    :biggrin_25523:

    I forget.
    Memory, second thang to go,
    doncha know.
    :biggrin_25525:

    Thanx for your post, TW.
Perhaps SOMEone will learn SOMEthing from
    your "negative" information.
And not be confused by the "facts".

    walleye Thanks this.

For your information I voted CR England as the worst, not Swift. My husband has worked for both as an o/o. CRE is by far the worst. They gave him just enough miles to pay for the truck expenses and there were weeks, yes, WEEKS we didn't make any money. After six months of making no money, we drove the truck back to the SL terminal and turned in the keys. Our credit was ruined by then though, we couldn't possibly get caught up, it was a mess. They took almost a year to pay him his last pay, and to add insult to injury they charged him $700.00 to detail the truck, which was in the same condition it was when we got it. I guess it would've helped if we'd been Mormon though.:biggrin_25512:
