Applying for jobs while in school

You’re talking in circles, and so are some of those replying to you.

If you don’t have an existing HAZMAT endorsement on a Class B/C, then even if you have passed the HAZMAT test, it won’t be ‘applied’ to your license UNTIL you actually get your Class A.

As a student, you are prohibited from transporting HAZMAT or hauling liquids on your Tank endorsement. While the ‘N’ endorsement will appear on your permit, you will receive an ‘X’ restriction (where for HAZMAT, I think they won’t even note it on your permit, as I said before).

Basically, you either can call and talk to recruiting people, and they can work around the arbitrary online requirement (hey, I’m in school...don’t HAVE that number yet) or just wait until you’re graduated.

I obtained my Hazmat and Tanker, 5 years after obtaining my B. They didn't hold onto anything for any reason.
I got no problem driving Hazmat on my B. No problem driving Tanker on my B.
I have an A Learners Permit. Just a notarized piece of paper. Carry it when learning A. That's all. Doesn't effect my B license at all.
How many States have a specific number for their Hazmat endorsement?

If you go in to the DMV with a Class D (or OPR), and test for your permit, you will not be able to have HAZMAT on the permit - it doesn’t do you any good, as you can’t haul HAZMAT on your permit anyway. The only way to have HAZMAT on your license while holding a permit, would be if you had your C or B with an existing HAZMAT endorsement. Even so, you’d be unable to legally drive a placarded vehicle of a class that was not allowed by the license that you already held, i.e., if you have a valid Class B with HAZMAT endorsement, you can drive a placarded Class B truck, but you still cannot drive a placarded Class A truck on your permit.




I brought up the ‘N’ (tank) endorsement, to show similarity - with that, you will get the endorsement on your permit, but with an ‘X’ restriction, as you’re prohibited from hauling liquid cargo on a permit.




WesternPlains - what state are you in? If you were issued a permit that isn’t exactly like...a drivers license...then the STATE is in violation of regs in regard to compliance.

 

I'd like to wait and see how many States you say are in violation of regs.
