Will I get an overweight ticket for being 60 over on drive axle?

Ok, so I picked up my trailer and weighed it but it's showing 11960 on steer, 34060 on drive axle and 33100 on trailer. My fifth wheel and the trailer axle are all the way forward and can't be slid any further? Was wondering if I could get an overweight for this since I can't take it back to the shipper now. Total weight is under 80000. *meant drive axle on title.

You should burn that little weight off in fuel. At 60 pounds over I wouldn't worry a out it.

If you're legitimately above 60 lbs and the scale is showing the correct weight. You'd probably lose that 60 lbs by the time you get to the scale house.

Diesel weighs about 7lbs per gallon. Assuming youre getting 8mpg that's about 69 miles. Probably a little more depending how close or far the tank is to the drives. Around 100 miles you should definitely lost those 60lbs

That's below the precision of most scales.

Anyway unless your tanks are very far forward you'll have burned that off in the next hundred miles.

Don't worry about it but be careful when you fuel.

If the wind is blowing right. You'll drop the 60 immediately at the scale. :D

Just don't put more fuel in it than it's current level. Fuel weighs approximately 7 pounds per gallon. This is where it helps to know your fuel mileage if you are already low and need to play the 50 gallon gamble.

...unless you know where the scales are and how far til the next one, also some states allow more than 34000.

At 60 pounds don't even worry about it. Begin to worry when you either exceed 80000 or 500 on drives or tandems.

Thanks for the response guys, with this weight and the hills I have to go over, I'll be lucky if I get 6 mpg. I have close to a full tank and the closest scale is 143 miles away so I'll burn through a bit of fuel before the scale.

Plus he'll get a break if he has an APU. Like 500 lbs over is exempt with an APU.
