Tennessee does have the 41 foot law, Brownsville especially enforces it empty or loaded. I guess it depends on how far apart his pins are spaced. If you can slide it two holes and still be at the 41 foot mark, then yes I would slide it. If not, I wouldnt run 800 over on any scales in Tenn on the trailer.

What the hell is that going to do? If he does that, his steers will be heavier, his drives lighter, and the trailer will STILL be 800# heavy.

Based on what? Bridge laws state MINIMUM length required. California KP/CA is a MAXIMUM length concern.

3 choices really, 1.run with it as it is and hope the POE will give you some leeway 2. slide your axles back another couple of holes which should move more weight forward . 3. Take it back to shipper and get them to reload it.

Tennessee popped a friend of mine for being short of the 41 foot mark by one hole even though he was empty. They used to pull trucks over for it when the scales were being rebuilt. I wouldn't chance 800 over in that state, either slide it to legal or reload it. You're looking at a several hundred dollar ticket.

I thought the 41' thing was for non-interstate highways.

I think it's federal too @STexan. Since it's called the federal bridge law, it would have to apply to interstates. THP was wearing trucks out with tandems to the rear when the scales were under repair. I even asked a THP and he said it didn't matter if you were empty, which is ridiculous, it still had to be at the 41 foot mark or closer.

I have had sketchy loads that I got legal, then went into Miss and after crossing the Miss scales, I stopped and slid it back to where I was comfortable.
