I was good through the 1st 2 sentences, most general freight the strap goes over and attaches to the other side of the trailer.. legally, I can secure for 1/2 the won't and be ok?
-
Some companies teach securement in a funky way. For instance 1 company i know teaches you direct gives you 100% and indirect gives you 200% but you must always secure for total weight. Doing it this way you are always securing at least 50% of the weight.
It's flat out wrong and you will get some weird looks at the ts if you say it, but you will secure for 50%. It's just easier math. -
Thank you

Load is 22,400lb's and 10' long. Exactly 2 straps from drivers side over load to passenger side is legal, (half weight, and length covered) if however, i had to go direct, (trailer to load, my wll goes from 11,200 down to 5,600. The wll is halved becuse im going direct. I need 2 more directs to cover half weight with wll of securement -
However, you need to be comfortable with your securement. Weather will change the way I secure. Road conditions and the commodity itself will also change my securement plans. There is nothing wrong with over securement as long as you don't damage the freight.skallagrime and street beater Thank this.
