Motorist does a uturn in front of semi

The truck, according to the camera, was traveling 65. He didn't even attempt to slow. His speed doesn't start dropping until after the collision. It was obviously the 4 wheelers fault but had the truck driver been paying attention he could have started slowing down.

 

On a related note. About 4 days ago in Texas, north bound on US-59, coming into Nacadoches where you have to make that left turn under the overpass ... trucker I guess was not familiar with the road and proceeded straight. Another trucker hollered on the CB trucks are not allowed through town.

I was then about to make my left turn there and observed the trucker about 400 feet beyond the overpass, move right to make a left hand u-turn, then made the u-turn. Problem is he did it right in from of a medical transport ambulance who was passing in the left lane. No way he could not have seen the vehicle if he made a reasonable look into his mirrors. He simply made a mistake, got flustered or whatever, then his brain remained in that state of confusion or disengagement, and made yet another mistake.

It was a bad place to even think about turning around, let alone a u-turn. At least he could have gone down a bit further and figured something else out

IMO, it's not about "who's found at fault". It's about showing crashes where some defensive driving on one's part could have perhaps prevented a costly crash and lost time due to stupid driving on another's part.

 

About 3 seconds before impact I'd have already been getting on the brakes and aiming for the shoulder. The driver either wasn't paying attention or just didn't care because he had a dashcam.

 

Ok, 10-8,,I'm not mad, I just don't think you are 100% correct. And when you post tragedies like this, there's an inherent feeling in all of us, like watching a NASCAR race waiting for the crashes( which I do) that we just have to see what that tragedy looks like. It's ok, I guess, it does show us what can happen, just a bit creepy , is all.
