How long does it normally take to here from a recruiter?. I am a newly enrolled student at a local truck driving school and am playing phone tag with a recruiter from Werner. First I called a recruiter who left a business card at the school then 2 days later I get a voicemail from another guy who’s taking over for the guy on the business card. I returned the call and have not heard from him in 2 days. Just curious cause I’m trying to line something up as soon as I finish training.

I was contacted by Schneider and Challenger almost immediately after inquiring--Challenger stopped contact after finding out I was 52, so I went with Schneider. Just got FAST approved and will be doing my drive test on the 20th of November. As soon as I pass I go straight to orientation that following Friday.

Good for you hopefully my recruiter from Werner will hook me up with something post graduation.

Search this forum. It's as predictable as a sunrise. JUST SAY NO TO DOLLAR STORE ACCOUNTS. ALL OF THEM. Ask Werner to have a driver with more than 10 years experience on that account. There aren't any. It's a meat-grinder for CDLs.Steel Dragon, Chinatown, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -
It would be better to go to cfi
Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
Instead of giving the CDL school recruiters your valuable time, why not go to the homepage of the Truckers Report and do a quick online search? It’s WAY better.
I had Werner come to my school too. He did push Dollar General. Thank God I didn’t pursue that. Instead I applied online to a company from this very site you already hangout on. It’s been 1.5 years and I’m still with that company. Look at TTR jobs page now.Toomanybikes, Steel Dragon, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
Thanks for the heads up about dollar general. Does the same apply to family dollar? tight spaces to maneuver through. What are the good accounts at Werner that are easier and you can still make money doing. As when starting out you want to be constantly moving racking up the most miles.
Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
OTR with a “starting” company is what you will likely be doing. 48 states, many miles, and little home time. This is a sacrifice that you do for up to 1 year and then you have verifiable experience. This is how you break into this industry.
I would skip Werner. If you are already in school. The world is your oyster.Need4Speed, FullMetalJacket and austinmike Thank this. -
UturnGirl, Toomanybikes, Steel Dragon and 5 others Thank this.

Remember though, all recruiters lie. Believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see. One of the most truthful statements that a recruiter ever told me was, “all trucking companies suck, ours just happens to suck a little less than the others.”
UturnGirl, Toomanybikes, Steel Dragon and 3 others Thank this.
