A few years ago my state stopped allowing this and I had to put my actual home address back on my licence. Still never asked to prove I still lived there.
But my mailing address remains in the background and appears on my printout.
I currently use a ups store box because of the physical address and easy forwarding. -

pattyj Thanks this.

If you get a Driver Privelege Card, you’re ineligible for a CDL.
In theory, that could vary by state right now, but, since the last non-compliant states are being forced into compliance....not for long. -

My first trainee at Swift teamed with his wife for three years after graduating training. They retired $65K in credit card debt the first year. Two years after that they paid cash for a house in Tennessee, in a small town they fell in love with during their travels.
Life on the road is what you make of it. Kudos to YOU for being game enough to try it. The key to saving bank is to cut expenses you don't need. Why pay rent, car payments, insurance, etc. if you only use those things a few days every other month?
Have you considered getting your CDL? If not, then consider it. You can become a team with your husband and increase your family income while you are saving money.HalpinUout, UturnGirl, Farmerbob1 and 3 others Thank this. -
The real ID is for entering Federal Buildings and boarding an airplane.
And you still don't have to get one for that if you want to carry a passport around you can still fly . -
You are not aware of what the requirements are, apparently.
There are three tiers of licenses now - a Privelege Card, a REAL ID Compliant DL, and an Enhanced DL.
You cannot have a CDL on a Privilege Card. You must have a Real ID compliant DL, or an EDL.
REAL ID, in short, requires you to prove who you are (verifying documents) and that you live where you say you live (hence why a street address is needed, and verifying documents).
While a REAL ID is required for accessing federal buildings, as you said, it is by default, required for a CDL. The CDL is a license that is issued in accordance with federal standards, and therefore, you cannot be issued a CDL on a Drivers Privilege Card.
The Utah DMV website is fairly easy to comprehend, in their explanation. Other states state the same thing, in a less concise manner on their DMV sites.Last edited: Nov 5, 2017

Yep.
Couldn't have said it better.
Always had that fun we always used to play on new trainees about that "team shower" LOL.
If you're going to ride along anyways, really consider getting you own CDL.
Would open up so much more potential for you both.
Best to y'all in all you do. Wish you both the best!
Lepton1 and Just passing by Thank this.
