Dollar store scam. New “training” for new CDL drivers means you do slave labor hand-unloading full trailers out back of 25 different Dollar stores. Your “trainer” is the guy making the money from the accounts. You do manual labor all day and get training pay. Google it and watch YouTube vids. Stay away unless that sounds fun.

If you are getting your license outside & on your own, you are doing yourself a huge injustice limiting yourself to talking to just one company. Do not limit yourself like that, if it is a reputable school.

You listed your location in your profile. It's Sunday......but, let's see if I can get @Chinatown shakin' up & off his wife.

He will have some good suggestions for you, that I trust in implicitly.

Warner may be it..... but, do not limit yourself to one place. Do some research & due diligence before you make ANY decision & examine your options.

Yeah, first 6mos to year may not be the best, but try to go w/best you can while you gain that experience.

Unless there is some big issue that requires you to be less selective, take the time to do that diligence before you leap. You will be very greatfull when it is all said & done.

Best of luck to you on what you decide.

Keep it safe, no matter what.

    Peace :biggrin_25525:

Plenty to choose from besides Werner. You can derail a driving career real quick with those Dollar General/Dollar Tree accounts. US Express pushes those same jobs on cdl school students also; don't fall for it. They can ruin your career for years due to backing wrecks in parking lots that aren't designed for trucks. How old are you; some companies you must be over 21 or 22 or 23. Don't worry, you'll have a job the day you graduate; be patient and shop around and submit several applications to various companies. Submit online applications right now, then follow with a phone call. It's easier for the companies to give you an answer if you already have an application on file when you call. Call and say, "I'm checking on my job application." All the companies below will probably offer you a job.
    Calex Logistics
, you'll get plenty of miles running to California and back to New York, Boston, PA, etc.
FedEx Freight - Montgomery, NY-Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a CDL permit.
Veriha Trucking - you'll stay in the eastern states.
Schuster - nations largest ice cream hauler.
Magnum Ltd. - decent reefer outfit with a good reputation for drivers.
Freymiller - hires new cdl grads under the "Restore Program" which is described website.
Abilene Motor Express - dry van & reefers.
Navajo Express - coast to coast refrigerated trucking.
Contract Freighters - www.cfidrive.com - @haz-matguru posted this one also. Coast to coast dry van.

You mean, reject the Sunshine in the Arse Injection from the recruiters? Are you joking? It feels so good that rookies are lulled into a dreamlike state where they feel warm and fuzzy and beautiful...

...until they get into a truck, and then they're on TTR complaining about how awful the company they chose is and how they want to abandon the truck and go find a job at McDonalds.

HEY ROOKIES: If a trucking company is sending a recruiter to your school, he is there to pork you. If what he was selling was actually a good deal, would they have to hire slick tongue people to sell the unaware on a pipe dream? Resist the urge to spread your buttcheeks for a moment and think with your brain, not your arse. They prey upon the new and unaware. It's the industry equivalent of pedophilia...they prey upon the inexperienced, not the experienced. There is a reason for that.

There is a Dollar tree across the road from me. Ive seen Swift coming out the parking lot a few different times. I honestly dont know how they get that truck in and out of that place. The whole area is not 18 friendly.

Amazing how many they rope right out the gate on those Dollar accounts.

Career killer, for sure, for many noobies. Something to be said when they can't get any senior folk to work them. But, could also get a one very well versed in tight, untenable situations..... IF they can make it past that.

Have to say, I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted to start that way. No way, no how.....

Could do any situation now, no prob. But, for that kind of pay & aggravation.... Hell no!

That's why they grab the new ones that have no idea of what they are getting into. Nobody else will do it. Keeps the Dollar stores "Dollar stores". LOL

And, they say we have a driver shortage?
Yep. This is just one part of so called shortage. Offering up a few unexperienced "Fresh New babies" here & there to the trucking God's, knowing #### well what will happen to a lot of 'em.

But, it's just numbers & percentages now, isn't it....... It doesn't mean anything that a person that would otherwise learn & do well has their aspirations/future crushed.....?

Ah, it's all good. The customer is happy & our profits are still good!

But, we still have a driver shortage. Give me a F'n break! LOL

Stay AWAY from any Dollar store ########. You will thank us sooo sooo much later.

You need to apply to a whole lot more companies.
I'm starting CDL school tomorrow morning.
I have Six contingent job offers now.
I turned in 15 applications for jobs to unemployment for last week alone.
