I'm thinking about buying a 97 Intl box truck (under 26 tons) with no PM installed--for use under 1,000 miles a year-Am I correct in assuming that I won't have to install a PM or replace engine?
Anybody using low-use exemption in Ca?

I know OUT OF STATE carriers get a 500 mile exemption per year

I see older bobtails all the time at the warehouses where I pick up furniture, some look like they shouldn't be on the road! lol
mhyn Thanks this. -
I think you’d be fine unless CARB is at a scale or someplace you deliver to.
Bakerman Thanks this. -
Yeah,Mr B!!--I really won't be leaving the Barstow area, so I think I'll be good!!

You should be fine if you’re just going to be around town.

Lots of Mexican ####heaps still on the road in CA.
Beat up old International cabovers, Freightshakers.
Hell, the majority of the dump truck fleet where I am in CA is likely non compliant. Plenty of noncompliant box trucks too.
Just don't hang around truckstops and rest areas, that's where CARB inserts its big black schlong into trucker's #####.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Oh and don't register your truck with CARB, if they don't know you exist they'll have to actually bust you on the road, and if you avoid the aforementioned places it's not likely to happen.

Is your post supposed to be racist saying Mexicans are cheating ? For your information, i know lots of individuals that are cheating the system, not just “Mexicans” as YOU put it. Grow up.Lepton1 Thanks this.
