34 Hour Re-Starts

That is usually up to your company and depends where the trailer is parked. Also, got to find out the requirements from your company about line 5. Some will let you use it, some wont.

 

I’ve stayed at a motel several times. But not while loaded. I stayed across the street.

 

It is quite possible to find hotels with truck parking. Super 8 is one chain I tend to look for. When I feel the urge to get out of the truck for a reset this is the way I go, loaded or not.

It is also not uncommon to find hotels right next door to a truck stop.

 

I wouldn't advise it.There's many hotels that have truck parking.

 

Those types usually have special room service for truckers....you know...like the hotel right next to the TA in OKC.

 

It's nice when you can find a truck stop that's near a hotel. That way you can end at the truck stop one evening, start the reset clock, stay in the truck the first night (to save money) then walk over and check in at the hotel as soon [as they will let you] and finish your break there.

Doing full resets in a truck is something I just don't care to do if there's any way I can avoid it. I find the idea that some truckers are "too good" to sleep in hotel beds laughable, but whatever.

 

If you're driving for a company that's giving you loads with enough time to take a reset, you probably don't need a reset.

 

The answer is the same as when. You take your 10 hour break.
Off duty us off duty!
What you do is up to you. While off duty your not "supposed" to have any work related duties ie; security guard.
But in the real world. The answer depends on company policy, and where your leaving the equipment.
