    Lol. I agree. The space movies are usually ones ill watch.

    Awhile ago i was watching Niel Degrass Tyson explain wormholes. He talked fast, but it was intriguing and sounded ####ing awesome!
    Is short basically if a human could make it to the edge of a wormhole and just sit there for a time, they will time travel because time is moving faster than outside the hole.

    So, lets see. The driverless vehicle has sensors that will cause it to stop if it detects something in it's path. But, the sensors have a defined depth perception. If the object is outside the area of perception, it can't see it. And it can't back up.
    So, the tractor trailer is backing into a dock doing a 90 degree backing maneuver. As such the rear of the tractor is moving towards the driverless vehicle, which happens to be in the tractor trailer's blind spot.
    If the "car" had a human driving, there is a 99% chance the "driver" would have stopped short of the dock space to let the tractor trailer back in.
    Sound's like the "driverless" vehicle needs a little tweaking to allow it back up if it see an approaching object and it's rear is clear.

    I just watched the video that was posted with the article. At first, when I noticed the mother crossing the street with the stroller I imagined the tragic possibility of the car not detecting a pedestrian. Lo and behold, after the light changes red to green, the mother is crossing the street, in the crosswalk with the green light. She gets half way across the first lane and has to stop because the car makes the turn across her path... That is a serious flaw. The car should have detected her moving toward it and its intended path, and should have stopped.

    This is an example of why I loathe AI and computer programs in general, they are only as smart as the ####### who creates the program. I am HIGHLY skeptical that those responsible for writing the program actually have much driving experience in the real world, particularly compared to a professional driver. I predict that the first fatality involving an autonomous vehicle( and I am sure many feel the same way) will occur far sooner than those who are creating them expect.
