Ya know, if I 'lived' out that way like Ruger, guess I'd have not much of a choice. BUT because I do, I can and will choose NOT.

    Just me.

Hats off to fuel haulers, all the same. I don't yank THOSE tanks, and I'm getting up to speed on the dang securement stuff for the winter when my tank won't pump off anymore, LoL!

Still, no chains...on the tires, LoL..... in Ohio (atm, anyway!) ~! ;)

    Rugerfan and HalpinUout Thank this.

Whatever. Go sit in the truck stop with all of the other wannabes while the rest of us chain up and get the job done

    Caution...Old guy story: circa 1974

Yeah, the station has to have the gas. Or the bulk plant does. But sometimes that takes a major effort. Like loading in Chico and taking 32 to Chester? At night? In January? In a Cantlay and Tanzola truck with a screaming 260, a ten speed, and a heater that directed warm air at my right boot when it worked at all? Oh yeah, the good old days.
I remember putting the iron on at the Forest Ranch turnoff and then running chained up all the way to Chester and not meeting a single solitary soul or seeing any fresh tracks in the snow until I finally got to Hwy 36. It took four hours from Deer Creek to Chester.
In Chester two CalTrans plows were parked side by side watching the snow fall. They weren't plowing, just watching.
When I got to town the power was out and the estimate for repair was three days. But the High School got my load of heating oil. School was cancelled due to the storm but they had their oil. I knew where the fill was and it only took an hour to dig down thru the snow to find it.
I came home the back way, down past Canyondam and Almanor and Crescent Mills. Solid snow all the way. I took the chains off at the scales at the Greenville Y on 70. They sure were shiny.
Nothing on Feather River Canyon except rain and slush. Felt like I was on vacation.
I figure if I'm ever in the market for a good used snow plow I'll get one from CalTrans. They hardly get used at all.

I don't care what anybody does as long as it isn't in the chain up areas. I've,along with other drivers, have had to chain up in the travel line before because of the nappers.

    Rugerfan Thanks this.
