I think you should take the first available open seat and start trucking already. Get some dollars in your pocket, which translates to more flexibility. You can always leave one company after a time if you do not like working there or think another company is going to pay you more, etc. etc. etc, and go work elsewhere. Happens every day in this industry. The important thing is to get your feet wet.
The best job offers will not come until you have some solid experience and they are very rarely at any of these carriers that have paid training, hire new drivers as routine practice, and advertise for drivers.
Not sure what to do

Roehl, no question. The reason Stevens is bugging you, is they know there are better outfits. Don't worry, if anything should happen, which it won't, there will still be plenty of openings at Stevens,,,why, I bet just today a new opening came up.

I will say I rather overthink then underthink when it comes to this dangerous job. That train of thought comes from my days of being an electrician I have to be very detailed and overthink working with electric or else I could get killed.
But like I said most of my questions are about hiring process and stuff any other job I just send a resume in and wait for a call.
Trucking is a whole different world.tinytim Thanks this. -
I know Stevens busses people in like cattle. Another reason I want to go to Roehl they don't bus anyone in you provide your own transportation and classes are a lot smaller not 40 people at one time like Stevens I bet.201 Thanks this. -
Dan.S Thanks this.

Travel arrangements are being made. Getting through orientation is not a given. If you did get through it you are on your way.
Roehl's phone interview is just that. They are not making hard arrangements yet so they are late. You are already in the process of being hired by stevens. -
tinytim Thanks this.

Roehl sent me a form to sign an hour ago for the physical and drug test that they pay for. So they are on the move too but I understand I'm not hired officially yet. The day I get to Appleton Wisconsin Roehl hires you right away and pays you from day 1 $500 a week through CDL training. Stevens you aren't hired until you finish the CDL school with a CDL in hand. -
I need to think this then. Roehl seems pretty good. You have a dilemna then.
I have a opinion regarding Roehl that goes back decades with the fiasco with their tractors long ago and I don't think that applies here I would only confuse and upset people.
In a way you have a nice problem. If Stevens is ratty or otherwise a problem you can arrange a travel to Roehl the following week. Savvy?
If both present hard travel arrangements, then you have to choose. I cannot choose for you.1278PA Thanks this. -
Blow Stevens off and go with Rollie. if that falls thru call Stevie back - thats what I would do
1278PA and lagbrosdetmi Thank this.
