This happened in Norway, near Hallingdal.
Why you think this is a reason to hate Euro technology is a complete mystery to me. If that trucker had killed the child, he wouldn't have been at fault. But you can be sure it would have had an enormous impact on him for the rest of his life. Even the driver who recorded the incident was trembling afterwards.
I previously mentioned something that happened just a few days ago. A car pulled up just in front of a Dutch truck on the autobahn, the Dutch trucker warned him by flashing his lights, and the idiot in the car reacted by hitting the brakes. That caused the truck to perform an automatic emergency braking, and unfortunately a trucker behind him didn't react fast enough, or was to close and he crashed in to the first truck.

The display on the dashboard shows the truck activated the emergency brake.

Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

And the second truck that rammed the first truck , his life looks like it might have changed a bit also . Maybe without this faulty panic stop he wouldn't have rear ended the first truck .
I think euro trucks can work the bugs out of this tech before we adopt it .spyder7723 Thanks this. -

And as for the second example , if the first truck didn't have auto panic brakes maybe driver 2 wouldn't have hit him , but auto brake can't decide how hard to brake , and full panic brake isn't always smart or necessaryLast edited: Nov 13, 2017

I'll trust a professional driver to make the right decision , you can count on uncertain techGearjammin' Penguin and spyder7723 Thank this. -

When it works that's great , when a truck rearends another truck because of this faulty system it's the drivers fault .
The tech can never be at fault -
The only thing with traction/stability control I've spent any amount of time in was my pickup and I hated it. Normally if I hit a strip of slush on the road I'll just take my foot off the throttle a bit and gradually steer out of it. That pickup would hammer the brakes hard enough to throw me into the steering wheel. How am I supposed to react to a situation when the vehicle does whatever it wants? I got annoyed to the point I'd just shut it off completely during winter.
