Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Yes, when a truck rearends another truck, it is the driver's fault. I think you will find that in the law books of all countries. If the driver of the first truck had made a panic stop himself (for whatever reason), the same thing would have happened.

 

Why? This technology is also meant to prevent these type of accidents.

What are you trying to say, that all drivers should be clones of you?? Well, they are not.

 

What I'm saying is you don't know anything about trucks and trucking except what you can google .
You think reading an article on google makes your opinion qualified ?
You can be comforted by the fact that the same logic goes into the lawmakers , they don't know squat either but pass laws that regulate trucking .

The problem isn't that he didn't have automatic brakes. The problem is he didn't give himself enough following distance. It would never happen to me, or some of these other foks in this thread for one reason, we don't drive like freaking idiots. I'll keep my cheap easy to maintain drum brakes with no auto brake capabilities and continue to drive with my brain.

 

That is why you have switches on the dash.

Ps Daf aka Paccar has a very good tractioncontrolsystem.
Volvo.....not so good.

 

In this country they would outlaw the off switch.........

 

I have a off switch for tractioncontrol,fcc and acc
Fcc forward collisioncontrol
Acc adaptive cruise control.

 

I know for a fact that not even the dealer will disable the collision control system and there’s no off switch......

One guy was gonna buy a new ecm without the collision system (because he hated it so much) and paccar told the dealer no way......
