I had an L9000. Dont remember the exact year, basically only used it local and for the farm. Want to say it was about an 83. Maybe an 85. And it did not have the flag.

Maybe not, but I’m sure it had that obnoxious low air buzzer. ;)

Oh good yes. Heck every truck I've ever had has an obnoxious buzzer. A simple low beep beep would suffice but no lets find the midst irritating buzzer we can.

...And Fords certainly cornered the market on that one, at least in my experience.

This freightliner gives ford a good run for the money. Holy crap its obnoxious. A couple days ago one of the sleeper air bags developed a very slight leak, just enough for it to drop pressure over night. That #### buzzer is so loud that when i can hear it as I'm walking around the truck kicking the tires, checking lights and my securement. That's over the locomotive chug a chug cummins.

On the jack program: I am blowing cobwebs and trying to revive unused brain cells.
If you turn the lever CW does it not have a stop pin? Jack it and the cab goes up? Leave the plug out and keep adding fluid as needed. If it binds up it has a check valve stuck on the other side of the cylinder. It maybe reversed by turning the lever CCW to that stop pin and pump the jack. That can release the check ball sometimes, turn it CW and jack it up. Someone else posted about cleaning out these check valves on some older trucks.
If you get past the center point the cab will begin to continue forward on its own. If you flip the lever in the other direction it should stop. Then if you pump the jack it should bring the cab back.
Aside from worrying about the cab falling on you if it has air in the system you may not be able to stop it when it goes past the center point. If it is doing funny stuff tie it off some how to prevent it from falling on its nose.
Used to buy reman pumps from Mathews Equipment in Atlanta. If you can not find the GM jack most any brand can be adapted. An air jack can also be adapted and make cats meow.

Don't blow too hard, BCK, :happy6:
yeah, an air cylinder , like large car hoods have, would be better.

Thanks for the good info there...
First, don't think there's any Stop pins as far as I can tell. But blowing up one pic shows what might have been some kind of ring surrounding that little lever's base, and it could have possibly had some notches in it for Stop points? Other than that, it goes as far to where it runs up against another part of it.
If I remember right, I only tried to raise it about a foot just to test it. Facing it, with the little lever swung to the right (CCW) and then pumping it will start the raise process, however, if Lever is left there at this point, you feel the resistance in the pump handle as it pushes back up and Raise motion becomes Lower motion. UNLESS I swing the Lever to the middle (6oclock CW) immediately at the end of each pump downstroke. Then it holds steady. (There it does leak off over the course of an hour or so) Continue the Lever CW to the left to the 9oclock position, and the pressure releases...blow some of these pics up and you might see something I don't...
    Thanks again...

And yes, I secured me a 2x4 clamped to the bottom of a cab crossmember and extending down to a solid base point. Didn't want a mashed head as there's too much mush there already...haha...
WHEN I finally get to the point where I want to raise it all the way, you can bet I'll have me a chain rigged up to prevent it from going on over...too nervous to try without it...

    201 Thanks this.
