Anyone ever operate these? I’m referring to the big 100 ton Caterpillars and earth movers. My company has an opening to operate one in our quarry. Just wondering if there were any interesting experiences and stories y’all could share.

At the moment I'm running a cat 745C, If it wasn't for talk radio I probably would have crashed and burned by now

I worked in a quarry for 3 years about 12 year ago. We had cat 773s. Most boring job I've ever done. After about 6 months I started running the trackhoe loading them. It's cool being in that big equipment n trucks for about 2 days. Yeah it's all bigger but so are the roads and loads so you adjust quick. Haul truck drivers ( in my experience) are kind of a beginning point in that field. Good luck,

Haul trucks are pretty much the bottom of the pole. The shovel/loader operators are up at the top. I would love to run a dozer. I've test run a few D3's, 5's and 8's and it was pretty cool. D11's sound the best though.

The mines here require a minimum of a class 5 (car license) to operate a haul truck. Some sites follow regular traffic rules (as opposed to blindside rules) so they want the operators to at least know the rules of the road and what signs mean.
