While a good company a low hanging tree might be just an incident.
However OP, If your asking the question you probably don't work at a good company and it will be a preventable. -
To the OP, that tree may have had a 14 or 15 foot clearance prior, and a bad storm could have pushed that tree lower to the road for all you know.

We snagged a Verizon fiber Optic cable on an allowed street. Verizon forced it to arbitration and the insurance company, fearful that 'so many' arbitration cases are going against them that they caved in and agreed to pay half of the 20K bill form Verizon [10K repairs and 10K for the downtime]
Since their wire was too low, I still consider this as a non-preventable incident BUT the 10K hit on our insurance experience mod hurt...
Overhead damage is usually considered preventable. -
If you worked for me ,Don't sweat it one bit, even if you were just an 'average' driver....I wouldn't make you feel Guilty, As often as most of these idiot carriers tend to do.
Not your fault at all.....truck Goes to Body Shop,You get a rental or an empty seat, Simple as that.
But then again....In an industry where virtually all Non-Union carriers like to brush off all problems to a driver, I'm the exception to that rule.
Hopefully,The OP works for a good company that actually exonerates a driver for occurences like this.
I knowhow the OP feels- Has his head hung low and "feels" he should be punished.....
I Don't want you to think like that OP.Chin Up,You didn't do anything wrong........If your company gives you ANY greif about it, just Smile, Your better than them.GreenPete359 and Truckermania Thank this. -

Took out the top right corner of trailer back in 01. Happened traveling down a barely two lane road after dark somewhere in Caroline county va. Though the branch was just around a tight corner with no way of knowing the branch exsisted, it was still an at fault.
