I listen to podcasts. The variety available on podcasts compared to broadcast & even satellite radio is like thevdifference between broadcast TV & cable. If you want to listen to shows about cooking all daybyou can. Dotto for cars, boats, computers, books, movies, business, politics, pets, anything else you can think of. Many comedians have weekly or monthly podcasts. I like Bill Burr & Nick DiPaulo's podcasts. Podcasts are available on your schedule, not like a TV show. They are free. Get a $30 MP3 player or use your phone.

I find WX radio is usially warning of a tornado 15 miles either side of a line from East Dirtwater to Springcreek. Wherever that is. It's virtually useless in my opinion. Even in the state I have lived in for 50 years I don't know where they are warning about. I check the radar on my phone. It's not a future guess, it's current reality. A radar is worth a thousand robot spoken words.

On your Android phone you can get the free podcast apps Stitcher, BeyondPod and others. There is anything and everything, to lisren to.

I prefer to use my Sansa Clip Jam $30 rathet than my phone. Screwing with the phone is tempting fate. I can operate my MP3 player without looking at it.

The engine, turbo, fan clutch, train whistles at railroad crossings...you know, anything to concentrate on the task at hand and listen for anything that just doesn't sound right. Saved my bacon quite a few times. I haven't listened to the radio in years.

Blinding blizzards I always listen to Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon. Let it play for hours or until the visibility improves. It's very relaxing.
