By doing it. We had to do a full pre-trip everyday before we started class. The first day we got checklists until we got it down, but even then had to keep starting every day with a pre-trip. That was a months worth. By the end of the 2nd week we pretty much all had it down.
Easiest way to remember the Pre-Trip inspection/Outside inspection? Having trouble

Does the KLLM Trucks have GPS?

Do you get marked down if you don' remember the names of every part you are ispecting?

Open hood. Start talking in detail about the engine fluids, then work your way over everything else with some precision in many words on each of the parts under there. By the time you make it to the suspension whoever is testing you would have been fed up and tell you enough let's drive.

I can imagine. Standing at the entrance to a truck stop. Holding a sign that says:
"CDL Student Training...Can I do your inspection?"
"My Teacher said I need practice... badly."
"............. Please!!!!!..............."
Would sure be a twist from the usual.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

There's a good video online. I watched it enough that I could repeat it verbatim. I can still stare off into space and repeat it reaching for invisible parts. I got 100% on my pretrip
