Brokered freight or pre planned? People with pre-planned routes wouldn't be affected much, while I can't say that about brokered freight.
When you run loadboard freight it goes like that.
Get a load with delivery appt of 8am. Get empty at 10, but end up sitting till 1-2, because brokers don't want to pay until it's couple hours left for the shipper to close.
You make those wasted sitting hours disappear and next day repeat the same thing.

Or he was running 5% over on occasion and will end up running a whole lot under due to not quite being quite able to do some runs.

The transition will hurt some but I think many are overreacting.

So what you are saying is that there still exists "some" flexibility even with elds, it just prevents you from working/driving over 14 hours.

Of course the word came down from above, no company wants to get hit with a law suite over a wreck that won't evolve them if they don't list loads lengths that aren't feasible to get done in a legal amount of time, otherwise they are letting themselves open to a can of worms.

I love how people use youthisms like "flexibility". Man up and call it what it is, falsified. Own your choice to violate the HOS. After all, those who FALSIFY their logs for ever little excuse are exactly why there is an ELD mandate.
So quit crying, you brought this upon is all.

Truth is, whatever anyone tells you will not necessarily give you an answer you can use, I think in the long run it depends on just too many factors, where you run, how you run, what you run, etc. But with that said, "after" the learning curve, I really think that 90% of the freight being moved out there is NOT going to see a significant drop, remember, some operations actually do get more proficient with ELDS.

Once everyone understands that it's here you will have dispatchers and companies along with drivers trying to optimize their time, at least in a lot of cases, lost time/revenue doesn't benefit anyone.

Flexibility is the less than 1/8 of an hour that I round to the nearest 1/4 hour. 5 minutes to make it to a safe place to park. 5 minutes early that I can leave because I'm ready to go instead of waiting until the elog says it's ok.

Logging off duty when I'm working? Falsification! And endorsed by your local ATA carrier.

It's interesting how these threads usually turn out. The OP asked what the potential loss of revenue expectations are from those CARRIERS transitioning from paper to elog. Instead it turns into the principles of logging in general, who's cheating and who's not LOL.
