O.K. Guys ( and Ladies ) I know your going to Start YELLING at me NOT To do this !
But I want to ask anyways.....I KNOW about The Problems with The Maxx Force engines !
I KNOW about The Class Action Law Suit, but what I want to KNOW ? ( for Years 2010-2014 )
Is that have The Problems with those Engines been FIXED ? and are The Parts in The International Truck System to Fix it ?
The Reason I'm asking is that there is a Certain Dealer's in The Mid-West : REPUTABLE DEALERS !
That are Basically GIVING AWAY ! These Truck of 2010-2014 with Miles around 500,000-600,000.
And UNDER $25,000 !
Now,the Reason I don't DIRECTLY Call and ask those Dealers ? about This.
Is that I DON'T want to get in a Shouting match with them !
Or give them the Impression that I'm QUESTIONING Their HONESTY !
That's Why ? I'm asking here.....If any O/O have the Answer to My Question ?
Please let me know.
Just The FACTS ! and Keep on Truckin'.....
International Maxx Force Engines Fixes ??

They are definitely an AMAZING deal. No doubt they're all fixed now and a GREAT buy. It's STAGGERING people haven't snapped them all up by now.
No point in asking on here though, you'll just get a load of people who've lost thousands or know people who have suffered from their experience with them giving you a hard time.
Seriously, their reputation isnt built on rumour, its all facts, and you're not going to have any different an experience to the hundreds you've read about -
I have a few question for you.
Why?????
For the amount of money spent on fixing a known POS you can buy a pre emissions older truck and as a bonus be Elog exempt. Would like to understand your thoughts.dunchues Thanks this. -
I have no firsthand experience with these engines but it can't be a coincidence that all these people have issues with that engine. Only way I'd touch one was if I happened to have an ISX sitting on the shop floor to stick into it and a week or 2 of free time to swap it in.

25k for a maxforce powered prostar with 5 to 6 hundred on the clock isn't a very good deal .
A friend last year picked up a 2012 with 300k on the clock for 15k .
I'm not saying I'd never buy one but it would have to be at a throw away price .
Fast forward a year on my buddy's prostar .
He drove it for a year and put very little money into it ....a few weeks ago it started throwing lots of codes so he parked and bought a new truck ...the dealer only offered him 3500 for the prostar on trade .kee1227 and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
The reason they’re giving away these trucks is because no one wants them.
So why buy a headache.
We bought 4 in Utah and of those 4 1 had small to no issues for a few years. The other ones were in the shop constantly. Not even that they were in the shop. But the fact that they were in the shop with no one knowing what’s wrong with them.
And you know what happens when your truck is at the shop with everyone scratching their heads?
You buy and replace unnecessary parts that they recommend and the problem still isn’t fixed and the bill is 5000$+
The better business investment will be something Detroit or Cummins and even a Volvo d12
My oldest truck 07 Columbia has made more profit than any other truck in the yard and hasn’t yet broken down once on the shoulder. That’s a 10,000 dollar truck that’s paid for its self 50x+
What I’m saying is

did u just backslap a D12 like that...
as if it's the 3rd rated choice against a maxforce? c'mon now my D12 is sweet...Socal Xpress Thanks this. -
One guy bought one of those dirt cheap. Took it straight home and took the engine out and junked the engine. He put a different engine in it, but that turned into a nightmare of a job because he had to replace the wiring harness also. Had to hook up his laptop computer and some software to get it all hooked up correctly. If you have a computer nerd friend to help with the electrical, maybe could do it.
Maybe put an older pre-emission engine in it.
Dealerships won't even take those trucks with a Maxxforce engine as a trade-in.Last edited: Nov 20, 2017

When I was speaking to my finance guy when I started my truck search, he said “we don’t finance Prostars”. I laughed and bought a Western Star glider.

I know a guy who bought a Lonestar with a maxxforce. It had just had a full factory drop in at the dealer and the owner traded it for a new truck. They were giving it away so he bought it. Had it "worked on" (hopefully that passes the moderators) elsewhere, and its been a fine truck. No issues. You can Google the places that do the "worked on" part.
win-some-loose-less and bzinger Thank this.
