Look it up in the DOT green book
....can't remember the reference # tho
HOS section 326.8 or something like that ....it's a law maybe this will be a leg to stand on if they were waking you up with phone calls during your 10

Not ragging on you , but you messed yourself up taking that truck !!!
So you need to find a reason to justify this bad decision you made ; is the best advice i can give you .
Make a big stink with them and then tell them you will back off if they take that abandon equipment off your dac report .

You should have changed your e-log to on duty not driving as soon as you found out it was K&B calling, then tell them that whenever they call, you are doing company business and have to go on duty and start a new 10 hour break when you hang up. Perhaps THAT might have worked...

    Moral of the story...
Don't steal someone else's truck and try and take it home with you.
Sorry buddy, once you steal my vehicle anything you left in it after recovery is now my property to dispose of how I wish. Sure you can sue me, good luck with that...

I dunno. I think there's also a point to be made about not holding people against their will and refusing to send them home. Two wrongs don't make a right, but I told them multiple times, verbally and in writing, that I would bring their truck back to the yard once I dropped my stuff off. They were going to tow it from the spot anyway and then I'd be in the same position only without a ride to the motel.

Held against your will? Really? What, did they handcuff you to the steering wheel? Or did you get a nice long chain welded to the frame? Long enough to do a pre trip and open the trailer door?

No, you could have rented a car, cleaned out the truck at any time, and go home. You chose instead to steal the truck, and got surprised they no longer believe you. I wonder why..... No, it's no wonder they decided to cut their loss at the earliest opportunity.

Good luck getting your "stuff" back. After you improperly used their truck they might not put a lot of effort into making sure your belongings are safe.

You sound just like K&B. You're not looking at the situation in it's entirety.

I put my two weeks in already. I was acting according to plan. They knew why I was quitting and it didn't matter to them. They continued their behavior that I specifically asked them to cease.

Tensions rose to a breaking point in a matter of minutes. I could not rent a car and clear my stuff out because they don't rent cars out of Walmart parking lots. If I drove the truck to a car rental place it would be the same unauthorized use of the truck. Not to mention you can't always just rent a car on the spot. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. In a major city at 5pm I'm willing to bet you won't get a car same-day.

They told me not to move the truck and that a tow truck was on the way. It takes all of 5 minutes for a tow truck to arrive. They basically said, "Ok get out of the truck then and find your own way home."

There was no chance for me to do anything, so I made my decision in the moment. Whether that was right or wrong I'm still not sure. I understood the repercussions. I chose to act in protest and sometimes you have to take a hit to make your point.

Improper use of their truck? What about improper use of my body? What about me trying to do the right thing for them for 5 months under constant duress? What about not leaving a person stranded 350 miles from home? What about basic human decency?

They couldn't contact me and say, "Our driver is getting the truck today so get your stuff out"?

None of this changes the fact that I was told that I couldn't get my things until Monday, and while I was sitting a half-mile away from the truck for 2 days they had someone sneak in and take all my stuff back to Iowa.

I'm not in the wrong here. They are.

This is why whenever I do OTR I keep the quantity of my possessions limited to 2 bags. So I can leave on a whim if #### hits the fan like in your situation.

JbHunt left me stranded in Syracuse after I left the family dollar account. I just happened to hav a friend nearby who picked me up.

I have been In your situation driver, you have to think 10 steps ahead. Plan and prepare for the worst. A company like kB has no morals or decency.

I would have not allowed them to bypass the fixing of the apu with you doing multiple relays. Driver safety comes first

Not being critical of you but here is a suggestion: get the Uber app.

You could have ubered to the car rental place. Or a cab. Or a bus. Anything. No way in hell am I sitting In a truck that long

    FatTone225 Thanks this.
