Hi. What does it mean "rear axle group"?
I have sliding spread axles on 53' stepdeck, from king pin to center of last axle 44', between spread axles 10'. I got ticket at the weigh station because there is more than 41' from king pin to center of last axle, as inspector said. But in the paper - center of rear axle group. But the distance between king pin and center of group is 39'.
I had 39k lbs on the trailer axles so I slided as spread and got ticket in FL because I had to have a permit for extra distance.
Can I slide axles in FL and take up to 40k lbs? I heard about CA only in US that I can't slide.
And how to measure correct? Center of rear axle or group?
There is explanation on the picture from DOT inspector.
Rear axle group?

Self explanatory. The measurement is from either the center of the axle group (between the rear axles) or at the center of the rear axle (center of the rearmost axle). If your axles were in the first position, your axle spacing was too long.

41 from kingpin to the rear axle...or axle group.
Rear most axle..the actual hub..cannot be more than 41 feet...from kingpin. -
It was like on the picture. Is it legal for FL?

The center of rear most axle and the center of the axle group is a big difference.Last edited: Nov 23, 2017

In your case axle group doesn't apply..it's the rear most axle.
