EDIT: I live within a three hours drive of the North Dakota border. Lived at 5000 feet here. Been here for years. Worked, driving 50K pounds licensed, 13 speed truck in elevations below and above 5000 feet during winter for 7 years. And I'm not supposed to know what cold is? That's how some here are treating me. Ridiculous... just plain ridiculous.Last edited: Nov 25, 2017
IluvCATS Thanks this. -
BTW: I love cats too. I love all animals. Have a cat going with me OTR. She'll take care of the trainer. (here come the comments) I confess...am nuts about dogs. But do love my cat dearly. -
Ya! If you just explain it to the company they might let you go out without a trainer.
tscottme and WesternPlains Thank this. -

I'm done with this thread, not surr why OP even bothered asking the question he already knows everything there is to know about otr, probably will be immediately upgraded into own truck upon arrival at whatever blessed company is permitted his employment..... He is aware that drivers who run recaps have more time available daily, surely he knows often that time is spent on customers property in middle of nowhere, with no cab or uber service available. Bring all you think is "needed" to survive, hopefully it works out for you.
b947, CrappieJunkie and Lepton1 Thank this. -
And with that we say... “The End”.
Slim51, WesternPlains, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
Personally I see nothing wrong with your choice wardrobe being sensitive to cold myself after spending so much time in the south.
But the water and the chickens and that other stuff.. dude, it’s just for a couple of weeks. Once you get your own truck you have all the water chickens and powdered dinner you want!
It’s mostly people just teasing you. Don’t take it personal. It’s all fun. That’s why we use forums and not just google. When I worked for an oil company those guys really let you have it... holy ####. You develope a thick skin real quick on those places.. or you say #### those guys and quit.
Noobs always get hazed. It’s not personal. It’s always been that way.tinytim, Lepton1 and WesternPlains Thank this. -
One guy at the oil job tipped over a bulldozer (those things tip over easily believe it or not) and from then on everyone called him dummy or ####### and not his name for like a full year. He didn’t take it personal. He knew he was accepted by them, it’s just how some guys show luv.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I live in Alaska and dont need a bacls whstever! Sounds pretty demanding to me. Take the minimum! Youll survive
