I know a landstar team pulling van that is absolutely killing it running a&e. Their numbers are simply stupid good. Makes my best loads look like chump change.

I have a couple brokers that offer me stuff that never sees a board, requires special coverages for insurance, needs the trailers to be equipped with certain securement options in the trailer, and I don't have to share the revenue with any carriers. The owner op that's leased onto me has access to those brokers and I don't take 25% or 35%, I only take 12.5% to help cover the cost of my time doing the back office stuff.freightwipper Thanks this. -

And ya small guys will get some dod loads from brokers. But they won't get the really good ones. I do these loads often enough and always look at the trucks loading next to me, specifically the carrier name. Billy bob with 3 trucks might get a conex box or a humvee, maybe even a jet engine. but he isn't getting a load of torpedos or crate of parts for the reaper drone. -
I have a friend who runs at Landstar and we have both called on the same load a few times just to see the difference between what a Landstar driver gets and what an outside carrier gets. Can you guess who got the better deal? It sure wasn't the Landstar driver!
I'll go back to my part of the world now since you've proven us all incompetent to make money without giving up 25-30% to a carrier.scythe08 Thanks this. -

Driver A gets 90% does 2800 miles at $2.5 per mile, after carriers cut is left with $6,300
If driver B at 75% does the same loads they'd need to pull $3 a mile to be left with the same $6,300
That's .50 a mile difference for giving up the extra %
Imo giving up 25-30% is only worth it if it gives you access to big money rates you couldn't possibly pull on your own.redoctober83 Thanks this. -
What I'm doing now works great for me...but I will never be satisfied with status quo...i do have plans to take it up a notch sometime in the near future of few years or so as long as everything goes accordingly....
