I was in Italy when they did that. People in Naples walked in the streets, not on the sidewalks, to keep from getting hit with feces being thrown from apartments.
They still do that in India.

I heard about that also. It’s interesting how India today is a poster child for social and political turmoil—in history they were ahead of the curb in science math and medicine. Also in the Middle East. When we were having our dark ages in Europe, Iraq was having there enlightenment. Scientists from all over traveled there to study free from discrimination. Now they are on the fritz, have been for a long time.

Indians are brilliant people. They came up algebra long ago. I remember from a history class, Alexander the Great campaigned into India (Aristotle’s star pupil) he was there looking for the edge of the Earth. He couldn’t beat them. He recalled seeing elephants for the first time and he didn’t know how to fight against them

Well they are. I watched a conference online where they discussed some of the problems with the American education system. A lot of them are coming here to get educated, then they go home. I don’t remember all the details but I guess there aren’t the opportunities here for the highly educated that there used to be. There options after graduation are to teach. We can teach people well, but after that there seems to opportunities elsewhere more attractive. That’s what was discussed anyway.

USA is enforcing the visa rules. Can't come here on a education visa, then stay and work unless it's something like a required internship connected to the education. That's why the Indians are returning home. Many Chinese have excellent opportunities now since their economy is red hot plus mandatory retirement ages that ensure there are jobs for new university grads hitting the job market. Just one job fair this week, over 5000 university grads or those graduating this spring, showed up.
The Indians that return home after being here a few years, complain that when they get off the plane in Bombay or wherever they land, the stench of sewage is overwhelming. They didn't notice it when they lived there before, but now do after breathing clean air and having access to "indoor toilets."
