The company that owns the beach truck on the clip that I posted recently, also invested in electric trucks. These trucks are used to supply restaurants etc. in the city centre. Trucks are not allowed during most of the day in the centre of many cities, but these trucks have dispensation. The bell on the truck is not a gimmick, the truck is so quiet that pedestrians don't hear it, and using the horn in pedestrian areas is not done of course. A friendly bell does the job. The truck is based on a DAF LF chassis, Kenworth and Peterbilt have similar (diesel) trucks. The electric motor is directly coupled to the drive shaft. The truck is available in 12, 16 and 18 tonne versions.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

True. Bussing was famous for the underfloor engine.
But they used a normal cab. Not the very short cab with topsleeper as used in the high cube volume trucks and air freight trucks.
These cabs were so short, and the seat could not be moved back far enough, so that a tall driver had to sort of stand/sit behind the steering wheel.

As I informed you before, there is one Kenworth dealer in the Netherlands, and they sold one truck as far as I can see. Here it is:
It has one rear axle, and a short but heavy trailer. The company van Huet is specialized in transporting glass. -
Back around the early to late 80s MAN used to sell Americana series transit buses in regular length and articulated form CTA(Chicago Transit Authority) had a whole fleet of them until MAN pulled out of the US market altogether.

Yes, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get back. Perhaps starting with their new vans. Those are simply rebadged VW vans, but sold by MAN dealers. In the US they could be sold by Navistar dealers, and then VW has a share of the EU van market in the US as well. Of course, VW is slowly buying up Navistar, so more and more MAN and Scania technology will flow into Navistar products.
