Okay don't need to get the sleeper washed out lol but got confirmation the shipper demands a trailer washout out PLUS a truck wash and trailer wash. They are paying for it too!
Don't really get it, maybe they want clean equipment showing up to their customers? Image thing?

    SingingWolf Thanks this.

It's part of that new food handling requirement crap that went into effect earlier this year. Just there way of making sure the food isn't contaminated. There are some carriers that don't washout trailers between each load, some go weeks between washouts.

When I first started looking at trucking, almost 10 years ago, I saw a company that required a uniform, neatly cut hair, and clean shaven. They also required a truck and trailer wash before arriving at any customer. Can't remember the name but they used to hire (contract) with Driver Solutions. They used to have 6 or 8 companies that went through them. Now it seems like only PAM uses them for company sponsored training these days.

Why do they require truck wash too, what does my truck have to do with what's inside the trailer?

    SingingWolf Thanks this.

Sounds like an image thing. The new regs pertains to the trailer inside.

    I'm guessing image thing myself.
First time I've ever heard such a demand from a shipper.

    SingingWolf and Home_on_wheels Thank this.

Ive heard it for eggs. They want to eliminate sources of contamination. Not sure the logic behind it.

I don't see it as a bad thing. So many trucks that are duct taped together out here it's ridiculous. Most of them guys are complete slobs anyhow. Maybe the shipper thinks this maybe be a way to deter some of the "trash" trucks.

I was going to say the same thing as @gentleroger . I've heard of it being asked for eggs and some places chicken. It's a contamination thing. Welcome to reefer work. o_O
