There are some changes going on in the fleet. Some ppl don't like them. While others will go along with Wht ever comes out of bentonville. If the ROC put out a message for all drivers to report to there DC's to get punched in the face. I'm sure a lot of them would actually show up.

However here are the pros and cons. If anyone feels the need to add please do. And with ppl looking to come on with the company, here are some things to know

    Pros:
Late model Trks. (they should pass a DOT insp)

A driver will get at least one day off. (there could be more days off, but drivers are being asked to extend right now)

Benefits start on first day of hire.

They will feed you and house you while in orientation.

Drivers don't have to touch freight.

The company let's drivers park at there stores.

Drivers get a discount on store items except groceries.

    Cons:
There is a Boots vs. Suit culture (the drivers don't like the type of management that has came into bentonville from other trucking companies.)

Cell phone policy. (one can only use cell 60 mins a day, in 10 min or less increments)

Store employees typically hate drivers. ( WM policy is that drivers aren't to touch freight. Because of this store employees call drivers lazy when stuff falls over and the driver won't help.)

Walmart store employees are generally going to get grumpy when tasked with lumping a trailer with today's snowflake work force applicants...

Hell even the stock shelvers get onery when I eyeball the produce and point out the places where the stuff came from. They don't wanna hear it. They just wanna get done.

And spare me the equipment talk. Walmart is experimenting with the possibility of robot trucks early on. Plus battery trucks etc. They cannot contain themselves up there in HQ with the profits to be made.

I will say one thing, WM drivers have it pretty nice. But it's not freedom. My kind of company hands me a load on saturday and say call me when you get to California on Friday morning, don't bother us until then. Get going. Yer late.

Eh some associates at the store get pissy. Others are pretty cool. Kind of depends. Really I find if you have a good attitude they tend to reflect that.

One pro or con depending on how you look at it. We get PTO instead of vacation and paid holidays.

You start earning time off day one. However we do not get "paid holidays". Some folks have a hang up. I think first year guys can earn 21 days (?) and 4 days off for safety.

The issue with a lot of large companies right now is how ca we keep cost down. And everybody's ot agreeing with some of the choices that are made to keep cost down.

Robotic trucks sound good, but in trying to save loot how much of it will be lost from payouts from wrecks???

I've seen a lot of dumb actions through my career to save a company some money. But if profit margins are so important. Why not trim some of the fat up top? Or cut some of their pay. Why do companies always cut the pay of the ppl that do the wrk that brings the money into the company?

This is why some CEO play the game of yearly salary of $1.00. then pad stock options, yearly performance bonus and such and clear 8 figures.
I totally agree with what you're saying, but will never happen. Any weasel in a suit can enter a company, cut wages, trim benefits for the minions, and play around with figures and shift the old ledger in his favor to make the numbers look good. This weasel then collects his large bonus cashes out his stock, and flees company.
Better question is if these weasels are so great, how come they never last more than a couple years anywhere. All they do is come in, wreck a company financially,& morally line their pockets and bail.
Yet corporations line up to hire these weasels

    Con:
The health benifit deductible is quite high. For the largest retailer Inn the U.S. One would think that they could have a better set up. There are way smaller companies with better HC plans.
