Sure, I can see what you're saying. I think that's why I'm not quite so thrilled about elogs being able to record everything. There's no middle ground between paper logs (i.e. practically no accountability because of how easy they are to cheat) and the new elogs. But all that extra access elogs have is what makes them so much harder to cheat.

And your point? If you read my earlier post, you would also have read that I don't, and won't, fudge at the sacrifice of safety. My fuel stops match, my bills match and a scale could pull me up and see that my times through there match, too.
I gotta ask; how long have you been in this business?

They had already started the overhaul on my 2007 CAT when I heard that they changed the ruling from year of the truck to year of the engine. Had I known that, I would have looked into getting an older engine installed, if it was possible.

i had a dot officer going thru my permit book, and say to me "oh,you've had this truck since before the eld thing came up..." which i have.

i think these guys that are running out to buy older stuff this late in the game might be scrutinized a little more vigorously for a while.

altho i also think guys running the older equipment are gonna be left alone for the most part.

Point is you'd be the first driver ive ever heard of that's never even once played with his logs.

And what difference does it make how long ive been in the industry? I'm a third gen driver, but only physically been driving 3 and a half years

E logs do not force you to drive tired. That is BS. You can legally shut down in a safe place anytime you want. 14 hours should be manageable for any normal, healthy person after a proper 10 hour break anyway.

    Just passing by Thanks this.

If we had to be paid hourly or salary, you would see real improvents in the industry.
