Your best bet is just to get a cheap on from one of the big box stores. I know canon and HP make a small one just for laptop users, but it cost around $150.

I have a copier, scanner, printer from Office Depot. $80 and has been working just fine.

I would suggest that you put a piece of foam a couple inches this under the printer. This will soften some of the road shock and vibrations.

I will never go back to a hand written log.
I started to use DDL 2 years ago and the company was so impressed by the logs i turned in that they now pay the program for any driver wanting to use it.

I have been using DDL for over 10 years now, started using it when Nick was on his third or fourth version of the program, and it was still free. In fact, you could run the whole program from a 1.4 gig floppy.

I have an HP 3150 All-In-One that cost LESS than $80 at Walmart. But I am thinking about upgrading to a KODAK all-in-one (about $125) because they use TONER instead of INK and cartridge replacement is about 1/4 of what it cost to replace HP cartridges.

Just remember that laser printer take a lot more power to run. Read the box and make sure your inverter has the extra power needed.

1.4 gig floppy is the largest floppy I have ever seen.
Now 1.4MB, that I have heard of. LOL. Just thought it was funny.
Yes I am making fun of your typo. Not something I should do considering that I can not spell.

The only thing I know that uses toner is a laser.
A cheap black and white laser will run just under $200.
The replacement of toner cartridges is generally much more expensive than an ink cartridges but you can expect to get from 2k - 10k prints from a laser toner cartridge and about 500 sheets from an ink cartridge.

Now if you have found a laser for $125 please list the model.

Very good point, I went with an inkjet printer because of that very reason. Now, I am using a laser printer (that they don't make anymore) a HP Laser Jet 1020 that pulls only about 400 watts active, which is more than the inkjet (about 200 watts) but way lower than most of the newer laser printers I looked at (in the 800 to 1100 watt range)

Laser is soooo nice though, I can click "print" and even before I can stand up, the log is already started to print. Zap zap (2 copies) and I am done.

I was mistaken when I said they use TONER instead of INK, they use PIGMENTS, which last longer than regular INK without fading.
It is an INK-JET printer. The reason the cartridges are cheaper is, KODAK doesn't build the print heads into the cartridges, which allows LARGER cartridges that hold more pigments.
    Kodak EasyShare 5100 All-In-One about $99.99
    Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-In-One about $129.99
    Kodak ESP3 All-In-One about $129.00
    Color Cartridge: $14.99
    Black Cartridge: $9.99
    Black/Color Combo: $24.98

I have used DDL for a few years now and will never go back to paper logs. I use to print out my logs every day and was told buy a DOT officer I was wasting paper and that the only time I needed to print my logs out was for the last 7 days at the time of Inp. if the officer wanted them. Also be sure to have a paper log book with you, I have been asked to show that that almost every time I have been checked. My company has the DDL program and I email my logs to them. I had a level 1 Inp in Neb by an FMCSA officer and said every thing was fine with the way I was using the program, he just want to know if I had a printer.

    Just my 2 cents. :biggrin_25515:
