So I was trying to "practice" with my eLog this weekend. I had to run into the office to file some paperwork and they asked me to help in the warehouse for a few extra $.
Later in the evening I thought, 'what the heck, let's try to log it on Line4." Like I'm legally required to, but probably wouldn't be faulted for sliding under the table.
Well I worked for about 3 hours from 10am until lunch, but I didn't get around to messing with my eLog until 9pm that night.
And unfortunately I managed to get a blip on the thing 4 minutes at 9:23 pm. Well, this totally screws up my 34 for the weekend. I was perfectly legal to work for 3 hours on Saturday morning but 9 pm on Saturday night? And that's what I did. The only thing "wrong" is my log entry, that I can't correct.
So since the week is short, I should be able to get away without fresh hours, but I thought "why certify this log that I know to be incorrect?" So when it asked me to put my name instead I put, "Saturday log incorrect/disputed" and it TOOK it!
So if it ever comes to anything (it won't) I wonder if I have a case that I disputed that log? Or if I ever need to dispute a log can I say "I do not concur" on the certification?

One thing mine will is, I have a customer where when I get there, I log on duty from the time I pull onto their scale, to where I get to the tank where their operators unload me. This takes anywhere from 7 to 15 minutes.
I then go to 'sleeper berth' until they finish, which takes anywhere from an hour to 4 hours.
When done, I go back on duty to 'scale out' and get paperwork and scale ticket. This takes about the same amount of time before, 7-15 minutes. I then usually drive to a truckstop 2 miles away that takes about 5 to get to and stop and get a drink, whatever. The elogs will take the time from when I just stopped and will turn clock back to when I went on duty and turn it all into drive time.
I could have spent a half hour getting weighted out and it will backtrack the entire time and log it as driving. And I can't edit it or dispute it.
They only thing we can think of is because the distance and time is so short that it can't log it as driving, so it takes over the previous status.Oxbow Thanks this. -

Okay, so in talking to my company's vice-president (who's taken the lead on all issues eLog and probably regrets giving me her direct line) those certifications pretty much go nowhere. At least at our company. (In a larger company, who knows?)
So you can put in "I dispute this entry" whenever you have a problem with what your eLog puts, but as far as it being recorded as a matter of record,,,
