Dave... I understand that many of you will question the motives of a 60 year old at this time in his career. I assure you, it's not my intention to "slide by" doing anything.

    Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

I could say and I have, our profession is not for the weak both physically and mentally. He is old enough to know to find out what this job is about before he signs up. Body parts start failing at our age because we beat the crap out of it for 40 years, but we still have drive, and the willingness to learn and succeed.

I paid cash up front when I got my CDL.
    (05 ) it was $1700.
I hear some crazy numbers now, 10 grand and such.
Pay cash if you can. Dunno how all the contract stuff works. I do know all those training companies are hell on earth.
I make fun of Schneider a lot, but if you do with a starter company, go there.

DON'T F LEASE A TRUCK NO MATTER WHAT.

I drive for Landstar. All owner ops. Money is excellent. You just need a year OTR and you've got it made. Well, and a truck.

You'll find most local gigs want at least a year.

Sir I was in the auto/light duty/medium duty repair tech industry real close to the same amount of time. This is why I understand where you are coming from. I'm in the same place myself my friend.
