Did you have a reefer experience before this adventure...?

Biggest thing with the Reefer is knowing how to "load" the trailer. This is a fine art depending on what you are hauling. You do not want it nose heavy. You got to know the weight of the units. Trailer I have right now is a tank. I can only scale 43,000 with it. But it's a true -20 to 80 degree reefer unit. Last thing you want is loaded with 500,000 or more dollars of meat and that reefer can't do the job. I love it. I try to stay away from the big guys. I have a set minimum I will run for. Period. In 5 months on my own Authority I have brokers now calling me, I am all about the relationship. I talk to @freightwipper alot. I've even given brokers I trust his number if he is in that area. We're all in this together. Although Monday the game is changing with ELOGS. If Trump don't save us it will be an industry changing event.

I'm not saying don't get all you can but it doesn't mean you can't be flexible.

So I take it by what your typing if they don't give you your price 100% of the time you don't pull it? I believe you champion the phrase don't haul cheap freight so when the market cools off your still going to stick to your rate correct and refuse to haul it for less?

My point was sometimes there's room to give a little as opposed to never negotiating.

Maybe I've read the posts wrong (and that's highly likely) but it sounded as if you demand a rate and don't settle for less which is awesome when the cards are in your favor but what do you do when they're not?

I wish you success and prosperity I really do I must just read the posts wrong.

 

I know they'll have no loyalty but if your in a pinch they may favor you over the other driver in the area who was an ###### all the time.

I believe you have said in the past it's about building relationships. Well a one sided deal isn't a relationship.

He should get all he can but if he develops a reputation of "he only hauls for above market rates times 5 or nothing at all" then when he posts his truck during slow times he won't get those calls he so likes.

 

I will stick with this cheap fright.
