They can only tell of you need a trainer opnce you drive their truck. Most of the time it is additudes like yours that they wash out.

If you can not opperate their truck they will put you with a trainer if you do not want a trainer they will send you packing and hit your dac with terminated.

Just showing up to orentation they can say you were employed the one day even though you will not actually be highered untill the 3rd day after all the reports come back.

bowhunter don't let that 13 speed worry you it's just like driving a 10 speed you just have a splitter for your higher gears.

    Bowhunter -

Also, the trainer isn't there to teach you to drive the truck - his primary mission is to teach you the Qualcomm and make sure your trip planning and logging are ok. If you can live with it for a week and get a good handle on it (you probably can) you should have no problems.

However, that being said - as an experienced driver, you probably will NOT have a trainer. That's assuming your experience is recent, of course

Mgassel is correct, I don't know - I'm only 20 minutes from the terminal I worked out of.

If you can find a *secure* place near home, and work with your DM and Terminal Manager, you should probably be ok. Truck stops are probably acceptable to the company, but personally, I dislike them. I'd rather have someplace like a secure storage area - preferably with cameras. But that's me.

According to all the dispatchers I talked with at May they require it to be a truck stop or their lot however I broke that rule a few times.

I would not park at a terminal no matter what because at this company
all of the 379's keys will open all 379's
    387's will open all 387's
    Centry's will open all centry's

They have had alot of drivers stuff stolen out of the trucks by other drivers and no one seen anything.

One driver at the Flordia lot lost over 2,000.00 in stuff.

They only rekey the trucks for women drivers

Their reason for keying all same model of trucks alike is the trucks are eaiser to recover that way. They do not have to waste money for locksmiths to make key's for the truck before it can be recovered.

lurch what happened to you at may?

As for rekeying the trucks, that understandable. However, if you have a place thats right off the interstate and is secure, i don't see it being a problem but thenagain its between you and your dm.

He had a backing accident broke a hindge, was put out of service because he made a little mistake on his logs that were checked by the dot took off 15 min to early from a break, then he pulled off the side of the road and got stuck and had to get a wrecker to pull him out this all in a 10 day span. He just had a bad 10 days and his terminal manager Danny tried to fight to keep him but they in brooks would not let him stay.

He was invited back in 6 mo if he keeps his record clean.

I have been talking to lurch

Also about the parking truckstops are the only acceptable place to park for ay.

I had a parking lot in a small shopping center that I sometimes parked in it was not big enough for truck and trailer but there was a dirt lot behind it so I backed the trailer up onto the dirt and kept the truck on asphault It was in a corner they never used so they the people that owned the lot did not mind.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

..well that might be good for the company but what about the driver, does the company reimburse him for the $2k in stuff that was stolen?! :biggrin_25512:

..if I had the option & got the company's ok, i would pay to have my own door locks & send a spare set of keys to whichever terminal they wanted me to send them!

..and Lurch hope u find something soon, this isn't the best time of year to be looking for a new driver's seat to occupy, especially a Pete!
