$1.25 a mile out of Indiana? That's ridiculous even for Van out of there, I've never seen rates that low.
Are you using DAT?

It all worked out in the end, got set up with another broker that doesn't take new carriers because it was late and they needed the load moved.
I no sooner got that load booked, left the truck stop Friday afternoon, and the phone started ringing. Brokers were definitely holding out to the last minute though.SingingWolf and freightwipper Thank this. -
@freightwipper how do you feel your numbers would stack up running solo versus running team working the load boards? You may have mentioned it but is DAT the only board your using?
SingingWolf Thanks this. -

Can get a lot better average rate per mile on shorter loads.
Many $4-$8 a mile 100-150 mile loads
I even see on the board now a Vandalia to Wintersvilles posted for $1000, like $4.76 a mile on 210 miles or so.
See a Vandalia to Pioneer posted for $900 also, like $6.30 a mile.
Those Van loads are a couple examples of loads posted with the rate... On a Saturday night. I'm sure Schneider ICs wouldn't be happy to hear those numbers being they run those loads for a lot less.
I have access to a lot of stuff but I really mainly just use DAT.
I pretty much just use what's posted as a reference and aim for brokers to call me because I can get more money than what's posted when they call me.spyder7723, drvrtech77 and HalpinUout Thank this. -

By the way watched a mistake on the board the other day. When the load came back up ........ 75% less. Lol they're talking more and more and mooorrree.
TennMan, spyder7723, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You are right though, many don't like to post a rate. They are hoping you call in and tell them you'll do it for cheap lol.
The load and truck post count is a tool, not saying it's perfect info.
Reefer is a different ballgame than Van.
Many of these reefer loads can't sit around waiting for a cheap truck to come get it, that's the whole main reason I got a reefer.Scott72 and SingingWolf Thank this. -
spyder7723 and driverdriver Thank this.

When you watch closely, though, you will see a desperate broker through big money up on the board, and you better call quick, LOL.SingingWolf Thanks this.
