Ordered ours in October, so tell me why we don't have it yet? They said there was a 2 week backlog. Its well past 2 weeks. Like I said, the ELD manufacturers were NOT ready. They should have been on the shelf waiting for thier respective truck, and are not. You cannot blame the drivers for not ordering 2 years ago because they just recently published the list of accepted devices from the FMCSA.
Is it too late to purchase an ABORD device?

Maybe it's time to switch to one of the more 'witchy' avatars again?25(2)+2, bullhaulerswife and 7-UP Thank this. -
And yes, it will suck for the first year as all these 100 new companies that jumped up will go away leaving the company to replace the ELD in a week. I figure in a year we will have just a few, Ominitracs and peoplenet of course. JJKeller Rand, and a few others, but I don't expect there to be more than a dozen providers....
Also, while some Mfg's were not ready, I expect no matter how long the Mfg's were given there would have still been some mfg's that dragged their feet and not been ready.
It sucks, but it happens all the time. -
I've seen a bunch of elds for sale at truck stops, if you waited till the last minute that's where to go.
-
Why install them and begin your pay cut, loss of home time, and stress level increase earlier then you have to?
-
I show it is 5:31 PM CST. 6.5 hours left. The clock is ticking....... Still time to get AOBRD. Still time...Order one on Amazon, then show the receipt, maybe this would count. Was it the installation or the purchase date?
-
Loves sales a couple diffrent kind of elds , Pilot and hook as well .
-
apparently as long as you order the device and go into the account settings and set the mode to aobrd for whichever device you bought... you will be grandfathered in. How is FMCSA going to know you have an AOBRD by Dec 18th or not? It's your last chance right now to get it before it's too late -
I'm guessing some of these companies will be repurposing the AOBRD via firmware updates and possibly hardware changes (if possible) so in theory if one could crack in and reflash the old software (assuming one could get ahold of it) one could turn a repurposed AOBRD (turned into a ELD) back into a AOBRD.... But then if you know how or someone capable for that might be easier to just hack the ELD.
For starters would need to disconnect the ELD from Wich ever service plan it has then force it to connect via WiFi to a server you have setup so that you can still email/fax logs over to DOT... Would also have to have your server mimic the server of the service plan that your no longer using (as to not cause alarm from it not coming from the proper IP/address)....
#### by the time you either crack this #### or pay someone to do it you may be better just following HOS... Like most of us do.
Ok so I'm rambling again and bouncing unresearched theories about how one would hack a ELD without DOT being able to detect it off y'all. Sorry -
Omnitracs told me that all theire units are being shipped out as AOBRD and in 2019 they will get an update and switch to ELD. It doesn’t matter when you plug it in as long as it was programmed to be an AOBRD
