Hi all - looking for some guidance or suggestions.

I just got my CDL A but have a moving violation and two minor accidents from almost 3 years ago when I was driving refrigerated box trucks in Manhattan, Boston and northern New England.

Are there any trucking companies working in the frack fields of North Dakota, Montana, possibly Wyoming that would consider hiring me? Or should I just stay local and wait for my record to be clean for 3 years and then apply?

Or are there any major nationwide carriers that might consider hiring me? I'm looking to get experience, though I thought the oil patch might be a better fit because of relaxed insurance standards because of the rural nature of the work. (I have tanker and HAZMAT, TWIC.)

some applications say something like, "no more than x accidents or x tickets in x amount of years" 5 years usually the time limit.

I can't see why the frack fields would really care, I heard stories they don't bother much with your past. (don't know how true that is)

Thanks, man, I'm thinking of calling one of the placement agencies in Williston today and seeing what the "ground truth" is as we used to say...

well, "the ground truth", may be a ticking time bomb from those recruiters as well as the ordinary trucking recruiters.

but I say go for it, the money should be better, then move on after you get more experience.

Usually that is too many for insurance purposes you are essentially unhireable for a while.

A work around is to go join a outfit that does not really care about your history.

Insurance is never relaxed. Remember that.

Where is your location? We need to know the hiring area you live in.
A cabbie in NYC had about 15 tickets for traffic violations and fender benders and he was hired right out of cdl school. He found a job on Craigslist by making dozens of phone calls and leaving dozens of messages. He now works for an owner-operator hauling produce out of California and return to NYC.
TransAm might hire you; pretty good chance they will. Don't lease a truck; just be a company driver and you'll be ok.

If that doesn't work, try Carolina Cargo; they're a 2nd chance company that also hauls produce out of California and back to the east coast.
