Most of the systems that are in trucks before 12/18/17 are AOBRD. They are not an ELD, nor do they have to become an ELD until 12/18/2019.
There are many differences between the 2 systems. The easiest way to tell the difference is to put your truck in gear and drive faster than 5 mph, which can be done in about 2 truck lengths. If the system switches to line 3 drive, you have an ELD. If not you have an AOBRD.
Your Qualcomm-Peoplenet-Omnitracs systems are largely still AOBRD. They too will have problems when they switch over. Then we will compare notes.

I was pulled in for a level 2 at Lebec, CA (Grapevine) weigh station late this afternoon.

Guy asks for my logs. I lift up my shiny new Galaxy Tab S3 and put my BigRoad AOBRD into inspection mode.

Walk him through the summary screen and he says, "looks good to me." Never looked at any invidual log whatsoever.

Pulled out 5 minutes later with a clean inspection report.

    Easy peasy...

Observations I've made since turning on AOBRD Sunday. I'm driving faster and going farther then I normally would on a given day.

More like shuffling the cards around. My productivity hasn't been effected whatsoever, only the way I acheive it.

And this gets to the heart of the problem. Why should some "outlaw" like me, with millions of accident free miles, have to pay to prove my innocence.

The bottom line is, it's now a requirement, with the exception of a couple different exemptions.

I noticed our JJ Keller product goes to line 3 after about 1/2 mile traveled, but almost immediately switches back when stopped at light. In city traffic, it keeps jumping back forth fairly quickly. Does you unit do that too?
