I have an older unit. It never worked right. FEDEX gave me an exemption. Now I have to have it working.

I have the Omnitracs as well and having this same issue. Company says it is showing speed sensor failure. I have it in a 97 Pete. This is second eld unit and different brand. Another friend of mine is experiencing the same issue on his 01 Pete. I have to go to a service center and pay someone to figure out why my “plug and play” isn’t fully playing.
You mentioned your truck was Canadian. Mine is also a “Canadian “ class Pete. If that makes a difference I would like to know -
I'm bringing it back to the place that installed it this week to look at it. The service manager is telling me it's an issue with the truck not the unit. Will see what happens.
379Trey Thanks this. -
I had it looked at today. I was told it's a truck problem. They offered me no solution or any information beyond that. It's very frustrating. I will have my mechanic look at it next week and see what he thinks.

Ok I posted in this feed about having the same issues. Eld is not recording my speed or my mileage. The above response mentioned about the cruise not working now either.
Ok, my cruise has not worked for about 15+ yrs. I can set my idle up, but only to 1500rpms. I have just done without the cruise. Also, when my cruise went out, so did my mpg reading. My speedometer and odometer on dash still works fine.
Does anyone on here now where to start to fix those problems because that may fix my eld problem. I am facing loosing my lease with company if not fixed. PLEASE HELP -
in the morning when it's warming up.
I spoke to my mechanics at great length today. My issues with the cruise control started roughly 10 years ago when the cruise control stopped working which was around the time I had my clutch replaced. I had no idea about the miles not recording on the ECM until 5 or 6 years ago when I had the QC installed with the electronic logs. The miles it stopped recording at roughly coincide with the installation of the clutch.
They are 90% sure it's the speed sensor on the transmission that is an issue, or the wire from the sensor to the ECM. I am bringing it in on Tuesday. Regardless of what happens here, I have decided to buy a new truck. 14 years in the same truck is a long time, the truck itself is 18 years old and I think it's just time. However, I still need my current truck for a month or so. I instructed my mechanic to keep the cost no more than $500 to fix. If it's the ECM which would be the absolute worst case scenario I am not fixing it. -
An update on my current situation. My truck has been at my mechanic for a few days. He thinks it's a problem with the gauge cluster. When I asked how much it would be to fix he said and I quote "it's a money pit." I am going to talk to him again Tuesday and see what's going on. Truthfully I don't think he really knows what the issue is yet. I put a deposit down on a 2013 International yesterday. So one way or the other it's going to get resolved. I am glad I went with my initial instinct and started looking for a truck 2 1/2 weeks ago. I just wish I had realized a little earlier that my current truck wasn't exempt from the ELD mandate. I thought It had a 1999 model year engine.

I hope your new truck don't have a MaxForce in it. My new International has the Cummins X-15 in it. I sure like it.
