I think the ELD mandate cleaned out a lot of old school drivers that refused to run anything but paper logs. I look at it as a boon for those who already adapted and can run. It will push freight rates up, so that can be a good thing

How do you blame CHR for cheap freight? If they have idiot drivers willing to run it why offer a better rate?

New weeds will replace them. Was just reading a new thread in OO. Folks are just clueless coming in, buying a truck and never driven.

Everyone quit your current jobs or position right away! Swift is hiring! Best rates! Home time. And a truck that runs most of the time.

Point is, swift was a joke for a long time, and there was a time when they paid 22cpm for a team starting out. That was a while ago. I imagine (and hope) things have changed.

But, let’s not derail this thread anymore.

Sorry to say it was this year that I was told and shown. A wife friend of mine hubby had just started driving for Swift. She was crying on my shoulder about how could they make it on 24 cents a mile. I said she had to be mistaken till she showed me his stub. Swift decreases pay based on how many miles you drive. More miles less per mile. Crasy I know but true. We put it out on Facebook truckers group to see if it was normal for Swift and it came back yes. I have 5 new drivers confirm it with pay stubs. Our advise was to leave asap and go somewhere else.

Swift and it's Ilk are the reason you should do your homework and talk to real drivers before choosing a company.

You do know what an ilk is...

Seems I am not the only one up this early. Which brings a nother topic Time. Since hubby didn't have dog and I was awake anyway I have been calling him to wake up. His 10 is just up but being in different time zone he thought it was hour earlier.

That always throws him as many areas towns don't follow time shifts and time zone in South is jagged not a straight line. So one has to check your local area time constant. When your in one town following daylight saving and delivering in another that doesn't plus it over timeline it can get confusing.

For those that have not been on ELD time factoring can be a challenge. Hubby has a 8 am delivery and he needs to get threw major city before rush hour. This hour throw off puts him in rush hour and will delay his time in some. But he already planned for it as they made him wait to be loaded 4 hours which used his time to get closer to delivery. When he picked up paperwork they asked if he would make delivery, he laughed said if you had loaded me on time I would have now!!! They kept stop loading him in favor of Mega LTLs coming in when he was first. He was told they were priority. Stupid folks his load was from the LTL that couldn't handle it so the sold it out.

Anyone with half a brain can see that swift is a place to get a start and that’s it. Not a place to make a solid living as a company driver.
