Ultimatums never work. I was always nice and understanding. More times I was last in first out at a first come first serve facility.

I don't get that either. I wonder wht he told the cops when he called them...imagine a Peewee Herman voice..."There's a big ol' meany down here that's talking bad to me and my tender little feelings is all hurt".
Granted the receiver was a dick but the driver, being told that his load would come off a 9, should have waited until shortly after that to complain.
Lots of blame on both sides here but the driver is a snow flake for calling the cops and the receiver needs to work on his people skills.

Bingo. Sure the manager was a dick. A lot of them are. But his first mistake was demanding to be unloaded by a certain time. Never ever do that. I always asked them how long it would take. If it got to the point I felt it was taking too long, call my dispatacher. "If you want me to go get that next load you are going ro have to get me out of here." Dispatcher would say give me 20 mins. Hour later Im rolling down the highway listening to Willie belt out "On the road again."

What is wrong with so many truck drivers on here is they hate truck drivers.

This guy did nothing wrong and everything right. Here is my advice as an OO.

Leave the receiver return to the shipper.
Explain to the shipper they rejected the load with foul language.
You bill double your rate. Take pictures and a copy of the shipping bol. Send it to the shipper for payment DUE Upon Receipt.

If they don't pay it in 60 days file a warrant in debt with the court. $56

It would be a good story to share in court.

Lol. Not what I would have done. But I know how to force the law on jerks and win. I've done it

Sure they do. On more than a handful of occasions, I've told a receiver "Either you unload me where you want it, or I'll unload it at your gate and you can deal with it at your convenience"...of course that was a lot more fun on end dumps, where I flip my switches on the trailer to release the tailgate and dump the airbags, climb up into the truck and engage the PTO. They usually change their mind before the bed starts going up. Flats it would require a little more effort on my part to get the load off, but I'll do it if I need to. As soon as they see I wasn't making idle threats, their tune changes.

What gets a lot of folks in trouble with ultimatums is that they don't follow through. All bark and no bite. If you SAY you're going to do something, DO IT!!!

Yeah, at some point after the receiver's blowup he could have walked back in and gone eyeball to eyeball with him, taken a deep breath and said..."look, we're both having a bad day. Can we just start over again ?" Sometimes that works.
And just for the record I've never ever been actually yelled at by a receiver. I've seen some snotty ones and a couple that, given the opportunity, I would have gladly punched their lites out if they hadn't been behind bullet proof glass, but actually been cussed or even yelled at...no.
Maybe being 6-5" and a pretty solid 260 with hands like catcher's mitts might have something to do with that.

I was just asking cause you said the driver did everything right.

How do you force the law on people?
