Called the Sheriff? I ran into the exact same thing on Thursday. 0600 appointment at a place I know does not start until 0800. I arrived on time, made some coffee, and relaxed. The guys opened the doors at 0700, I was out of there by 0745. I used my white privilege, I was polite when one of the guys got snippy with me about being there early. He did not want to load me, but again, I was polite and had EMPATHY for him and his situation. He got right on me and I was down the road, both of us started our day on a good note. ;-)

I don't get it. Something happens to us drivers out here where we are taken advantage of by brokers, shippers, DOT and it's like half the folks in here that are truckers are against truck driver's.

Someone tell me what this guy did wrong. If the receiver would have beaten the crap out the driver half of you in here would have said that's the driver's fault or simply say thats just part of the business learn to accept it

I simply would have told the dude, "goodbye". Nobody gets to cuss me.......and I ain't snowflake either.
I then would have called the broker and told him what happened and instruct him that detention starts right this minute and redelivery will be $500 plus detention. We don't play the cussing game in my truck.

If you've had to use it 6 times you need a better customer base.

I have been doing this for quite a few years, and have been in more than a few seedy backwater docks hauling groceries and produce... There are two sides to every story... I have seen more than a few drivers come in with an attitude, these young ones are some of the worst, along with the foreigners. I guess I am old and don't really give a sheet anymore and have learned how to deal with situations like this. Losing my temper is not on the radar. You want to p i s s people off, be nice to them. ;-)

If I must I'll let my displeasure be known if things aren't going my way, but I will show respect to those who show it to me. Most of those you'll be dealing with have no real control over your scheduled times, but they can have control over your stay. If they require a strong hand then you deal with them calmly but firmly. Fighting, physically or verbally, will only put you in the dog house. Those new drivers who can't hack it need to learn to be stalwart when they feel rage.

Couldn't you just return it to the shipper? You would take a loss though. :(
