Did anybody get inspected for ELD yet?

    Just in Time, the automotive industry runs on it. We Expedite. There are times I have to wait until parts are made or for an airplane to arrive. Sometimes it may take many hours sitting and waiting, which we are compensated for. The ELD/HOS strips us of the flexibility freight like this requires. This is serious business, we are asked to do things that most companies cannot or will not do due to the work and mostly, the time involved. We are a tier one carrier, not easy to get and or keep. At my company, all O/Ops, there are only say 6 of us on the road at any given time, and we deal with one specialized brokerage that is very picky. The big guys have dabbled in it, they always fail. The reason we are compensated so well with rates that most can only dream of.

    When the sheet hits the fan, we get the call. ;-)

    One of the reasons the megas via the ATA pushed for the ELD BS. They couldn't compete in these segments so they'll drag those of us down who can.

    Werner tried moving into one of our gigs. After being told we were too expensive we kept getting calls to cover Werner failures.

    Yup, looks like all GM expedited freight ran on paper logs and no Megas were involved

    We've got Qualcomm, tried to do an update and the system froze. Now it's like a big poltergeist screen, just threw a hat on it and carried on. Omnitracs service centers are far and few between and don't even try to get a hold of some one on the phone. Tried the call back option and 7 hours later someone called back to say take it in for servicing. Uhhhh, ok.

    We are running Omnitracs too, ancient technology to say the least. I am still keeping my paper log running. I know how this stuff works, if you don't write it down, you will eventually get screwed. Been there, and done that. Old school, pencil and paper, CYA. And more wasting of my time.

    Roadside U.S. 65 North in Pine Bluff Ar. 3:30 in the a.m young fella walks up to the truck ask me to open the door and introduces himself as officer Porter of Arkansas Hwy Patrol. Says he wants to do a level 3. I hand him my log book and big binder. He checks my door frame, ask for my DL. Comes back 5 minutes later ask to sign his clean inspection sheet hands my stuff back pats my shoulder and says be safe on the way home driver Merry Christmas

    Now that you can't run illegally anymore they're going to have to get their #### together or just except that their plant is shuting down for a bit.
